Armando Tejuca

 ARMANDO TEJUCA – born and raised in Havana, Cuba.

Graduated from the José Antonio Echeverría Polytechnic Institute with a degree in Civil Engineering (1991) and from the San Alejandro Academy of Fine Art with a Bachelor of Fine Arts (1995).

He has taken part in many group and individual exhibits in the United States, Italy, Mexico, Jamaica, Portugal, Canada and Spain. His pieces are on display in numerous private collections and prestigious institutions, such as the Museum on the Seam in Jerusalem and the William J. Clinton Presidential Library in Little Rock, Arkansas. He received the Coexistence Award from the U.S. chapter. He has designed the covers of several books, in addition to four posters for International Children’s Day at the International Hispanic Theatre Festival of Miami. He has taught for several years and designed sets and props for Teatro El Público, Teatro Avante and other theatre companies. Critics have described his work as “an infinite world of imagery and creation.”

Grounded in the Expressionist tradition, Armando belongs to the Havana generation of the 1990s, noted for its increased attention to form and style. His paintings are easily recognizable, as they bear his unique stamp.
